As a full-service immigration company, the team members at Racer Immigration understand that skilled workers are high on the list when it comes to prioritizing entry for new Canadians. But for those looking for information on how to come to Canada as a skilled worker, there are some guidelines and tips right here.
The Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) program is specifically for people who are selected because of their work experience and skills.
To apply, an applicant needs to be eligible to work in Canada or have a pending job offer. Otherwise, interested applicants will need to acquire at least a year’s worth of relevant work experience. Other requirements include meeting minimum language and education levels—and the capacity to be financially self-sufficient
The applicant’s relevant work experience has to have been paid, full-time (30 hours a week) or the equivalent hours in part-time, and has to have occurred during the last ten years. But remember, these limits do not apply if the applicant already has a permanent job offer.
Anyone who is eligible to apply for the Federal Skilled Worker program can submit their profile to Express Entry, which is the online application system for economic immigration categories, such as the FSW.
